About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our team at Ocado Group. As a Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for providing legal advice on commercial and transactional matters, both in the UK and internationally. You will work closely with our Senior Legal Counsel and other stakeholders to ensure that our business operations are compliant with all relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice on commercial and transactional matters, including contract negotiation and drafting
  • Supervise junior members of the team, including trainee and paralegal level
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
  • Draft, negotiate, and provide expert advice on new and existing Ocado Solution Platform and Ocado Intelligent Automation contracts
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance, including competition/antitrust policies, as part of any negotiations
  • Help anticipate, identify, and support on disputes, construction/property, employment, corporate, and financing issues in the context of commercial contracts
  • Anticipate, identify, and advise on IP, competition, and data protection issues in the context of commercial contracts
  • Liaise and manage external counsel effectively from a delivery, risk, and cost perspective on a daily basis
  • Contribute to the development of the legal team's strategy and proactively maintain and raise the profile of the team by developing and taking forward team initiatives/objectives
  • Develop and provide training and legal updates to the business on various areas of the law and regulatory matters
  • Develop Ocado standard contract templates
About You
  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification as a commercial or technology lawyer
  • Qualifications: Qualified Solicitor/Barrister specialising in commercial and technology contracts
  • Expertise: Experience advising on commercial and technology law internationally, with a desire to expand this expertise
  • Skills: Experience of domestic and cross-border transactional drafting, negotiating, and advising on a wide variety of commercial contracts in respect of technology investments, engineering, and IT procurement
