The Opportunity

The Role

This position is accountable for overseeing multiple intricate eDiscovery projects, which includes daily collaboration with instructing teams (partners and associates) to advise on and implement eDiscovery best practices.

The role encompasses managing a diverse array of cases as assigned by Managers and/or the Senior Manager, while also mentoring junior team members (Executives and Analysts). This position will ensure the delivery of high-quality services and contribute significantly to enhancing the reputation of the eDiscovery team both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborating with the eDiscovery Manager and/or senior manager to identify and comprehend client requirements, assisting in the execution of recommended technical solutions, and supporting the effective delivery of solutions throughout the lifecycle of a matter. Daily responsibilities will include: Processing data (in Relativity and/or Nuix), Ingesting data into Relativity. Conducting searches within Relativity workspaces, Creating review batches and coding layouts in Relativity. Preparing productions and exports from Relativity, Supporting legal review teams with their review workflows (including running threading, near de-duplication, and CAL), Maintaining project files including preparing file notes, memoranda, minutes of meetings, instructions, tracking materials, and communications with legal teams and clients as necessary.

Additional responsibilities include :
Upholding the integrity of client and firm data, including evidence handling, processing, and data tracking. Coordinating with other team members to ensure that appropriate solutions and processes are implemented efficiently and that work is delivered punctually. Acting as a liaison between junior and senior team members, proactively quality-checking the work of junior team members. Ensuring adherence to internal quality control procedures at all times. Collaborating with managers and other personnel to design and implement defensible workflows as required. Ensuring that tasks are executed professionally and in accordance with project guidelines (where applicable). Reporting on the status of assigned tasks in a clear and timely manner, Participating in post-case evaluations. Advising on eDiscovery processes and protocols, including communication with Client Technology/Litigation Support representatives of clients. Maintaining financial accuracy to ensure time recording is consistently precise and current. In the event of issues arising, consulting with eDiscovery Managers to troubleshoot problems and liaising with software providers to resolve any challenges. Collaborating with eDiscovery Managers and Senior Managers to develop, maintain, and continuously enhance best practice eDiscovery processes. Fostering effective and productive working relationships with Alternative Legal Services colleagues, HSF legal teams, and third-party partners. Assisting with reporting, billing, and other administrative tasks for the team.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Essential

A minimum of 4 years' experience in eDiscovery (law firm or service provider). Profound understanding and practical daily use of eDiscovery technology, particularly Relativity and Nuix, encompassing data processing, data ingestion, database setup, searching, production, threading, near de-duplication, clustering, and active learning. Strong documentation and communication abilities, including effective collaboration with case teams, eDiscovery team, and service providers. Experience working within a similar team at the requisite level. Expertise in supporting document reviews and case work, with a curious mindset and solutions-oriented approach to client service. Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to managing multiple projects under strict deadlines. Capable of managing and resolving issues effectively, engaging confidently and succinctly with internal stakeholders.

Desirable Experience supervising junior staff, ideally including identifying and addressing training needs. Understanding of disclosure obligations across various jurisdictions (specifically UK and US litigation, UK and US regulators). Experience collaborating with legal review teams (LPOs or in-house legal teams). Familiarity with data collection processes (including the use of Cellebrite), Advanced proficiency in MS Windows and MS Office Applications (especially Excel). Understanding of the dynamics of working in a global team, including navigating diverse communication styles, working styles, and time zone challenges. Ability to think strategically and ensure that continuous process improvement is formally documented, implemented, and disseminated.
