Job Summary

The Reliability Engineer is a critical member of our maintenance team at West Fraser, responsible for improving the uptime of our plant and enhancing the efficiency of our machinery and processes. This role plays a key part in driving new ideas, systems, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze Plant Performance
    • Conduct and coordinate failure investigations to identify areas of focus for the maintenance and operations teams.
    • Analyze plant downtime, quality, safety, and financial data to inform maintenance and operations strategies.
  • Lead Reliability Team
    • Direct supervision of the Reliability Technicians, ensuring they implement best practices for lubrication, handling, application, and storage of lubricants.
    • Direct oversight of the preventative and predictive maintenance programs, including vibration analysis, thermography, infrared, oil analysis, precision alignment, and other reliability-enhancing activities.
    • Assist in the planning and execution of maintenance activities as required.
    • Identify opportunities across the site to improve efficiency, lower costs, and reduce waste.
    • Benchmark performance and best practices at other West Fraser facilities.
    • Project management to drive reliability initiatives forward.
    Qualifications
    • A Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or similar Engineering Degree is preferred but not mandatory.
    • Relevant experience with industrial manufacturing equipment and/or trades experience is an asset.
    • Computer proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Maximo.
