As a Youth Support Specialist, you will provide tailored, comprehensive support and accommodation to young individuals who have experienced care. Your role will involve assisting young people facing a variety of complex challenges, including emotional and psychological difficulties.
Service EnvironmentThe supported living services are designed to create a nurturing and trauma-informed atmosphere. Our approach emphasizes emotional, relational, and environmental stability, ensuring that each young person feels secure and supported.
Support PackagesWe offer a range of support options tailored to the unique needs of each young person, with staffing ratios varying from 1:1 to 2:1. We are also seeking professionals to work within group living settings.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Youth Support Specialist, your primary goal will be to foster positive outcomes in collaboration with Key Workers. Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of each young person.
- Supporting young individuals in their journey towards greater independence and successful transition to adulthood.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with young people who have complex needs and may exhibit challenging behaviors.
- Assisting in the development of independent living skills, social skills, problem-solving abilities, and risk management strategies.
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualities:
- A genuine enthusiasm and commitment to working with young individuals who have faced significant challenges.
- Experience in high-support environments (desirable).
- The ability to manage diverse behaviors with a calm and reassuring demeanor.
