Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a permanent Band 7 Lead Nurse role within the Trauma and Orthopaedic department.

The selected candidate will oversee the coordination of staff and the daily operations of the ward.

This ward accommodates 27 patients, primarily focusing on delivering individualized care and rehabilitation for those with orthopaedic conditions. The emphasis is on managing patients who have experienced bone injuries and require surgical intervention or rehabilitation services.

This role presents both challenges and rewards, necessitating outstanding communication and problem-solving abilities, along with the capacity to adapt to dynamic situations under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess leadership experience. They will receive support and training to enhance their leadership and management capabilities, taking charge of the ward's overall administration and its personnel.

The successful applicant will be proactive and innovative in enhancing patient safety and advancing care standards. They must also demonstrate excellent clinical expertise and be proactive in the management and care provided to patients.

Facilitating learning and development opportunities for ward staff will be a crucial aspect of this role.

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with 1st Level or relevant children's qualification
  • Current NMC Registration
  • 1st Degree in nursing or a health-related field
  • Evidence of Master's level academic study or a commitment to pursue a Master's in a relevant health-related subject
  • Qualification in Teaching, Assessing, and Mentoring
  • Management qualification

Desirable

  • Relevant post-registration qualification at level 3
  • Non-Medical Prescribing

Public Sector Language Competency

  • Fluency in English to an appropriate standard

Essential

  • Thorough and current knowledge of nursing theory and best practices, particularly within the specialty area

  • Understanding of staff management/appraisals and clinical governance principles
  • Familiarity with the NMC Code of Practice and its application to staff management and personal conduct
