Deputy Ward Manager

About the Role
The Deputy Ward Manager will play a key role in supporting the Ward Manager in the overall management of the inpatient service. This will include assisting with the assessment of care needs, developing and implementing programs of care, and setting standards of care.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the ward team in the absence of the Ward Manager, providing clinical advice and support as needed.
- Ensure the delivery of a high-quality inpatient service through effective clinical management.
- Ensure that clinical practice is consistent with current knowledge and supports service provision.
- Develop and maintain effective communication and working relationships with the Multi-Disciplinary Team and other key providers.
- Assess, plan, evaluate, and review individualized plans of care in conjunction with patients.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Registered Mental Nurse
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Mentoring and assessing ENB 998 or equivalent
- Management of Actual and Potential Aggression (MAPA) Training
- Immediate Life Support Training
Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of current health policy initiatives and their implications for service delivery
- Understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983
- Able to understand the importance of and compliance to policies and procedures
- Able to record information accurately and write reports
Experience
- Recent experience working and managing within an inpatient setting
- Experience of working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in managing and leading a team of staff in a clinical setting
- Involvement in employee development reviews/appraisals
