Profile:

An experienced primary engineer is sought to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about applications engineering and possess a keen attention to detail, capable of preparing comprehensive documentation and diagrams.

In this position, you will leverage your technical expertise to design and install substation layouts for projects ranging from 400kV to 11kV.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver substation layouts and detailed diagrams in compliance with established UK standards and processes, utilizing allocated CAD resources from local and other business units.
  2. Develop technical specifications and material schedules for primary equipment.
  3. Conduct conductor force calculations.
  4. Review and approve project documentation in alignment with established standards.
  5. Ensure that your work packages and those delegated to you are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with the allocated budget, providing feedback where necessary.
  6. Offer technical support and develop tender scheme options along with related project scope documents.
  7. Generate engineering time estimates and assist in monthly forecasting to completion.
  8. Participate in design and hazard review meetings.
  9. Provide technical support on-site as required.

Ideal Background:

  • Minimum qualification of HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Transmission or Distribution practices (400kV to 11kV).
  • Strong teamwork, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and in high-pressure environments.
  • Proficient in Windows, MS Office, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in the electricity supply industry.
  • Familiarity with Distribution Network Operator / National Grid standards and drawing practices.
