Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioural Support Assistant to join our team at a secondary school in Manchester City Centre. The successful candidate will work closely with students who exhibit challenging behaviours, providing tailored support to help them thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Individual Needs: Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to address their specific behavioural challenges and learning needs.
  • Implement Strategies: Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies as outlined by educational professionals, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
  • Monitor Progress: Observe and document student behaviour, progress, and engagement levels, providing feedback to teachers and other staff members.
  • Promote Positive Behaviour: Encourage positive social interactions among students, helping them develop essential life skills such as communication, cooperation, and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate with Staff: Work collaboratively with teachers, special education staff, and parents to create a supportive learning environment tailored to each student's needs.
  • Participate in Training: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your skills in behaviour management techniques and educational practices.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young adults in an educational or support setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A strong understanding of child development principles and behavioural management techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others succeed.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning) are advantageous but not essential.
