We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team at an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Levenshulme. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who experience behavioural challenges, helping them to succeed academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Work closely with students who exhibit behavioural difficulties, providing one-on-one or small group support to help them engage positively with their education.
  • Classroom Assistance: Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour, ensuring that lessons are conducted in a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Behavioural Interventions: Implement behaviour management plans for individual students, working under the guidance of the school's pastoral team.
  • Building Relationships: Develop strong, trusting relationships with students, acting as a positive role model and mentor.
  • Conflict Resolution: Assist in resolving conflicts that may arise between students, promoting positive communication and helping them to develop problem-solving skills.
  • Supporting Inclusion: Work with students who have additional needs, ensuring they are fully included in all aspects of school life.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Keep detailed records of students' behaviour and progress, providing regular updates to the school's pastoral team.
  • Parental Engagement: Liaise with parents and carers as needed, providing updates on student progress and working together to support the child's development.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people, particularly those with behavioural challenges, in a school or similar setting.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude, with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the development and wellbeing of young people, with a commitment to making a positive impact.
  • An understanding of behaviour management strategies and the ability to implement them effectively in a school setting.
