Position Overview

The Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ) Business Services Team plays a crucial role in supporting various divisions by ensuring effective administration in areas such as Security, Postal Services, Travel and Transport, Facilities Management, and Administrative Support Services.

As the IT Security Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the security protocols and ensuring compliance with established policies. This role requires a proactive approach to maintain the integrity of our information systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular examinations of security maintenance and system logs, ensuring they are countersigned as per the Security Policy Documentation.
  • Ensure all CIS equipment is accurately registered in the unit’s Asset Register.
  • Maintain a comprehensive record of personnel authorized to access the system, verifying their security clearance and adherence to local regulations.
  • Enforce password policies and ensure the secure custody of protectively marked media and IT documentation.
  • Provide security education and training for all staff and system users.
  • Perform spot-checks on IT assets managed by external units under NCHQ’s jurisdiction.
  • Regularly review and update the NCHQ Portable Electronic Device (PED) Policy in collaboration with the Unit Security Officer.
  • Report all information and cyber breaches to the Navy WARP through a Security Incident Reporting Form (SIRF).
  • Ensure the presence of a Cyber Champion within the unit to promote a culture of security awareness and hygiene.
  • Conduct annual cyber assurance assessments of subordinate units’ policies and procedures.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in numeracy and computer applications (Excel & Microsoft Word).
  • Able to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
