Editor / Senior Editor, Children's Education

We are seeking an experienced Editor or Senior Editor to join our team at a leading book publisher. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing titles through the editorial process and assisting the Commissioning team as required.

The role is full-time, permanent, and offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and hybrid working arrangements. As an Editor or Senior Editor, you will have the opportunity to project manage titles across a broad range of educational products, from teaching resources and professional development books to illustrated fiction, children's poetry, and home learning books.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Guiding individual titles through the editorial process
  • Organising and assisting with the writing of AIs (advance information sheets), catalogue copy, and book fair materials
  • Development editing and copyediting new manuscripts independently, as well as alongside project editor/commissioning editor
  • Writing back cover copy
  • Supporting desk editors and commissioning editors
  • Liaising with sales, production, design, marketing, and editors to ensure that sales materials are produced on time
  • Proofreading and liaising with authors

The ideal candidate will have some proven editorial experience in book publishing, alongside an interest in or knowledge of the Education space, and the ability to understand teacher and learner needs. Good prioritisation and organisation skills, alongside excellent attention to detail and communication skills, are essential.
