Software Engineer - Sports Analytics

Compensation: £60-85k (with an attractive guaranteed bonus)

Location: Flexible hybrid working options available

We are seeking to fill multiple positions at both mid and senior levels.

Our client is a leading firm in the sports analytics sector, focusing on data-driven forecasting, odds generation, and risk management.

Role Overview:

  • Develop and implement high-quality software solutions tailored to business needs.
  • Optimize cost-effectiveness while maintaining clean software architecture.
  • Ensure applications are operationally ready.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to clarify and refine requirements.
  • Provide technical support and consultation to business units.
  • Guide and mentor junior software developers.
  • Participate in peer reviews to uphold internal software quality standards.
  • Champion and facilitate process enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality design, coding, and unit testing.
  • Assist the software development team in adhering to code quality standards.
  • Influence technical decisions within the team.
  • Conduct technical risk assessments in the development area.
  • Comprehend and apply established processes within the development framework, promoting continuous improvement.
  • Gain knowledge of the domain, technologies, and software solutions, sharing insights across teams.
  • Consult with business units to analyze requirements, scope, and dependencies, providing effort estimates and facilitating decision-making.
  • Support peers in preparing for software releases.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Strong technical background with professional experience in software development.
  • Familiarity with .NET and .NET Core, along with proficiency in C# and object-oriented programming is preferred. Candidates with experience in related technologies will also be considered.
  • Experience with microservices and web APIs, including message brokers, in-memory caches, and databases.
  • Front-end development skills (React) are advantageous.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to design software considering scalability, performance, maintainability, reliability, reusability, security, and usability.
  • Proficient in writing maintainable, efficient, and robust code.
  • Capable of creating unit tests, including mocking, to ensure adequate code coverage.
  • Understanding of GIT and software version control.
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
