Counterparty Risk Models Group (RMG) Analyst

Barclays is seeking a highly skilled Counterparty Risk Models Group (RMG) Analyst to join our team in Glasgow. As an RMG Analyst, you will be responsible for acting as Model Owner for the bank's advanced Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR) exposure models, used for both internal risk management purposes and regulatory capital.

The focus of this role will be Counterparty Credit Risk model ownership, throughout the model lifecycle, including activities such as CCR model monitoring, documentation, development, testing, validation and remediation.

You will contribute to a robust model governance framework by performing annual model reviews and quantitative analysis, model governance forum management, supporting audit activities, and assisting with regulatory exams and submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design analytics and modelling solutions to complex business problems using domain expertise.
  • Collaborate with technology to specify any dependencies required for analytical solutions, such as data, development environments and tools.
  • Develop high performing, comprehensively documented analytics and modelling solutions, demonstrating their efficacy to business users and independent validation teams.
  • Implement analytics and models in accurate, stable, well-tested software and work with technology to operationalise them.
  • Demonstrate conformance to all Barclays Enterprise Risk Management Policies, particularly Model Risk Policy.
  • Partner with other functions and business areas.
  • Escalate breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
  • Take responsibility for embedding new policies/ procedures adopted due to risk mitigation.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you own or contribute to.
  • Make evaluative judgements based on the analysis of factual information, paying attention to detail.
  • Act as contact point for stakeholders outside of the immediate function, while building a network of contacts outside team and external to the organisation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Maths, Statistics, Sciences, Accountancy, Finance, Business, Engineering or Economics or substantial directly related experience.
  • A keen interest in financial markets and Counterparty risk concepts.

Desirable Skills

  • Master's degree, or PhD in any of the aforementioned subjects.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel. Experience with Python/SQL would be beneficial but not necessary.
