Building Control Surveyor

Location: Harrogate and North Leeds

Employment Type: Permanent

Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 (Dependent on Experience)

Position Overview

Due to ongoing growth, the company is seeking skilled Building Control Surveyors in the specified region.

In this role, you will operate within a designated geographical area, fostering and nurturing relationships with clients by delivering proactive building regulations plans and conducting site assessments and inspections across a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections of buildings under construction or conversion, collaborating closely with developers and builders to ensure compliance with Building Regulations.
  • Perform plan checks to verify adherence to building regulations.
  • Self-manage your workload effectively, ensuring a responsive, professional service while maximizing time spent on-site.
  • Document inspection details in the database and communicate findings to clients.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with surveyors and management regarding technical issues to uphold standards and procedures.
  • Engage with developers, clients, and builders, providing technical advice and support.
  • Carry out additional duties as required, focusing on relationship building.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Preferably registered at BSR Level 2-3 or on the path to registration.
  • Strong client management skills, technical proficiency, organizational abilities, and self-motivation.
  • Full membership or nearing chartership of professional bodies such as MRICS, MCABE, MCIOB, MCICIOW, or equivalent in the relevant discipline of Building Control.
  • Capable of conducting inspections at all construction stages.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in building control, including plan checking and site inspections, along with warranty, quality, or defect resolution experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Building Regulations, related legislation, and construction standards.
  • Familiarity with general insurance principles and terminology is advantageous.
