Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team at CV Library. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our plant and equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in fitting, turning, milling, and welding. Knowledge of overhead traversing gantry cranes, compressors, refrigeration plant, low-pressure air blowers, gas-fired combustion equipment, forklift trucks, pumps, valves, and associated systems would be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work alongside other maintenance technicians to complete planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring resources are allocated to priority areas.
  2. Assist with major breakdowns and minimize plant downtime.
  3. Provide a daily shift report and assist in maintaining the cleanliness of plant and adjacent areas.
  4. Perform testing and inspecting of mechanical systems in accordance with industry standards.
  5. Be resilient under pressure and able to converse confidently with staff.
  6. Implement all mechanical maintenance and corrective works on the site in accordance with Maintenance Instructions and site-specific procedures.
  7. Undertake defect surveys on electrical plant and systems and provide reports as requested by engineering management.
Personal Attributes:
  1. Hands-on approach to plant maintenance.
  2. Fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
  3. Safe approach to all work tasks.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Problem-solving attitude.
  6. Knowledge/qualifications in electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines.
  7. Multi-skilled engineer in a manufacturing or production environment.
  8. Able to ARC/MMA welding.
  9. Ideally multi-skilled.
  10. Mechanically biased.
  11. Good understanding of pumps and ancillary equipment.
  12. 18th Edition (but not essential).
  13. Willing to undertake further training where needed.

The hours of work are Monday – Thursday and Friday 8.00 – Saturdays/emergency call outs as required. An hourly pay rate of up to £18.00 will be offered based upon experience.
