Position Overview:

A Technical Architect is sought to contribute to a groundbreaking platform initiative that delivers comprehensive AI solutions to both internal and external stakeholders. This role encompasses a multifaceted and fulfilling technical architecture position, addressing aspects from Identity and Access Management (IAM) to API design and Master Data Management (MDM). The ideal candidate will possess substantial core architecture expertise and a pragmatic approach to making critical design choices, weighing all trade-offs, and effectively communicating strategies and rationale to engineering teams and senior stakeholders alike.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will join a team of four technical architects dedicated to the ongoing architecture and enhancement of our platform. This role will involve extensive technical architecture work across integration, application, and data model domains. Familiarity with API design, data model architecture, and the ability to make informed decisions regarding platform architecture while considering trade-offs is essential.

This position is tailored for individuals who have a passion for development. While a team of engineers is available, a hands-on development background is necessary, along with the capability to review and critique code produced by peers. Strong communication skills are vital, as the role entails direct engagement with clients, including both technical and non-technical personnel.

Expectations:

  • Proven experience with GCP serverless components and their integration to create resilient, high-availability solutions.
  • Extensive background in designing and documenting architectures and applications in GCP, accommodating a variety of technical and non-technical constraints.
  • Expertise in making significant design decisions and maintaining architecture decision records, effectively communicating rationale to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong experience in API design, documentation, and versioning, particularly with common GCP components.
  • Leadership experience in guiding a development team from a design and technical ownership perspective.
  • Deep understanding of application architecture in GCP, including suitable technologies and patterns for specific use cases.
  • Experience in estimating large-scale architectural changes, identifying key risks and dependencies, and developing a prioritized roadmap.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of designing applications within a containerized environment.
  • Hands-on development experience, preferably in Python, along with familiarity with complex enterprise software challenges.
  • Experience in designing software for multi-tenant environments.
  • Expertise in data model design, simplification, and standardization.
  • Experience in managing complex, highly-integrated architectures involving disparate and third-party systems.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and diagrammatic communication skills, capable of conveying technical and abstract concepts.
  • Commitment to automation and a quality-first mindset, including proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code languages and advocating for developer quality through unit testing and code reviews.

Additional Skills (Preferred):

  • Familiarity with the C4 Model for Software Architecture.
  • Understanding of DevOps principles.
  • Knowledge of AI applications in relation to model capabilities and use cases.
  • Experience with headless architectures and their interaction with backend systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Java.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with diagrams-as-code methodologies.
