Main Responsibilities- Team Management: Lead and manage a team of retail professionals to ensure they meet their business and personal objectives through regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, and target monitoring.
- Budgeting: Develop and present an annual retail budget, ensuring effective financial management and control.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional levels of customer service throughout all retail areas of the venue, exceeding client expectations and delivering a service of excellence.
- Bar and Beverage Innovation: Lead on bar and beverage innovation across all retail areas, driving sales and revenue growth.
- Sponsor Activations: Work with the partnership team to ensure successful sponsor activations and activities.
- Commercial Analysis: Collaborate with the commercial department to analyze sales trends, average spends, labor productivity hours, and other key performance indicators (KPIs) to inform business decisions.
- Retail Capital Projects: Propose, manage, and implement retail capital projects within the required timescales, aligning with the company's overall capital expenditure (CAPEX) plan.
- Revenue Growth: Drive revenue opportunities across all retail hospitality restaurants, including Royal Ascot, through marketing, communications, and performance measurement.
- Menu Development: Work with the culinary team to develop seasonal retail menus, hosting tasting sessions for new concepts with clients.
- Casual Staff Development: Collaborate with the staffing team to develop a strong team of casual staff for retail operations on racedays, including retail training programs.
- Marketing and PR: Work with the client's marketing and PR team to deliver the marketing and promotional calendar for each raceday, providing regular updates on retail activity and new innovations.
- Temporary Structures: Collaborate with the ARL team and Head of Operations on temporary structures, power requirements, networking needs, and build-up and break-down for all racedays, including Royal Ascot.
- Beverage and Food Concession Plan: Create an annual beverage and food concession plan to support the onsite retail operation.
- Experience: Proven experience in a large sports or entertainment venue setting, with a comparable role and a track record of delivering successful F&B retail operations.
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple million-pound P&L accounts and budgets, and lead diverse teams to deliver exceptional service.
- Financial Acumen: Ability to interpret and utilize financial and commercial information to inform business decisions.
- Marketing and Sales: Experience in implementing SOPs to achieve desired retail delivery, and good awareness of marketing tools and industry initiatives to drive additional sales.
- Operational Knowledge: Operational knowledge, skills, and experience in bar and restaurant management at a sporting or entertainment venue.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both upwards and downwards, internally and externally.
- Resilience: Resilience to manage multiple tasks and prioritize importance.
