Job Description

Job Title: Senior Mental Health Practitioner - Clinical Lead

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our team as a Clinical Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership, supervision, and support to our multidisciplinary team in the Mental Health Liaison Service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive assessments to plan and identify the mental health needs of patients referred to the service.
  • Develop and implement risk management plans for service users at risk of vulnerability, self-harm, self-neglect, or risk of physical, sexual, or emotional harm to others.
  • Ensure the full involvement of service users, relatives, and carers in the assessment of their needs and the formulation and review of their care plans.
  • Provide specialist CAMHS clinical leadership, supervision, support, and consultation to the MDT in the MHLS team.
  • Lead on the development of the MDT knowledge and skills set around the assessment and response to the needs of children and young people.
  • Provide direct patient interventions for children and young people focusing on relapse prevention and early discharge.
  • Support the wider MDT in providing safe and comprehensive assessments of children and young people attending the A&E department.
  • Provide a service to people of all ages within the hospital wards and A&E, assessing individuals with a range of complex needs.
  • Support and train acute hospital staff regarding recognizing mental illness and appropriate onward actions to be taken.
  • Offer assessment, support, and care for individuals brought to Place of Safety facilities in relation to Section 136 of the MHA 1983.
