Job Title: Principal CAD Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal CAD Designer to join our team at Solid people. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading a team of CAD designers and developing unique designs for structural and architectural metalwork structures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of CAD designers in designing bespoke structural and architectural metalwork structures
  • Develop unique designs ranging from complex steel extension work to ornate, one-of-a-kind conceptual metalwork
  • Control workflow, monitor performance, and deliver the CAD drawings for each project
  • Develop, improve, and maintain CAD processes within the department
  • Use Autodesk Advance Steel to create, assist with, amend, or finalise layout drawings, including bespoke and associated construction drawings
  • Liaise and coordinate with external design architects, engineers, building contractors, and internal departments
  • Ensure the delivery of targets by setting measurable KPIs within the department
  • Set up and maintain an organised file system for all drawings and associated templates for ease of use
Requirements:
  • Competent 3D CAD modeller using Tekla or Graitec Advance Steel. Similar CAD packages will be considered (e.g., Vectorworks, Autodesk Revit, ProStructures)
  • Experience designing for structural steel or fabricated metal products
  • Held a senior position leading, managing, or coordinating teams
