About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Physical Security Specialist to join our team at Nationwide Building Society. As a key member of our Physical Security team, you will play a critical role in protecting our people, sites, and assets against identified threats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on physical, personnel, and counter-terrorism security matters to directly influence and challenge how the Society protects its people, sites, and other assets.
  • Analyse all-source intelligence to make an assessment of the physical and personnel security threat to the business and undertake security vulnerability assessments/audits.
  • Articulate the results of assessments and mitigation recommendations to business stakeholders up to and including Exco-1.
  • Draw on your extensive knowledge of physical and personnel security threat methodologies to provide consultancy and advice to business units to ensure the application of physical security standards within day-to-day Run the Business and Change activities.
  • Provide SME support to the investigation and resolution of any physical security breaches, including engagement with law enforcement or other external investigative agencies and undertaking Post Incident Reviews.
  • Develop and foster internal relationships with key business units such as Property Services, Payments, Retail Operations, Economic Crime and Compliance and externally with Financial Services peers, Industry working forums, and law enforcement.
  • Support the maturation of the physical security Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) framework to ensure compliance with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
Requirements
  • An Industry recognised certification such as Security Institute Advanced Certificate/Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Security Management, ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Associate Protection Professional (APP), or Physical Security Professional (PSP), or have willingness to work towards them.
  • Established knowledge and experience of physical security operational delivery in a UK Corporate security or related environment.
  • Experience in operational response planning for physical security incidents, emergency, and crisis response situations.
  • Strong written communication and presentational skills with an ability to translate technical and complex concepts into digestible language accessible for a range of audiences.
  • A proven track record of using impact to influence and challenge.
  • A proactive and positive approach, with the ability to self-motivate and see tasks through to completion.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to build strong partnerships within an organisation and externally and with the confidence and ability to act as an ambassador for the Physical Security Team, the wider Security & Resilience Department, and the Society.
