Job Summary

The Vessel Superintendent plays a pivotal role in the successful execution of our clients' projects, overseeing the activities of workers involved in the construction of Sub-Sea oil and gas infrastructure, dams, pipelines, or other construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interface with clients, clients' third-party representatives, marine personnel, and Oceaneering divisions to orchestrate project execution.
  • Study project specifications to plan and coordinate installation or IMR activities, considering start and completion times, staffing requirements, and phase-by-phase construction.
  • Assist project managers in developing procedures and tooling for Installations or IMR projects.
  • Inform the Operations Manager of vessel and Oceaneering dock area conditions in relation to project activities.
  • Serve as the primary HSE agent on the vessel for Oceaneering activities, liaising with the Marine Division.
  • Direct and supervise riggers and third-party laborers.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel and subcontractors to plan and execute work procedures, interpret specifications, and coordinate project phases and mobilizations.
  • Resolve workforce complaints and grievances with supervisory personnel and labor representatives.
  • Collaborate with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve installation and mobilization problems and improve methods.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure adherence to specifications and project schedules.
  • Prepare or review reports on progress, materials used, and costs, adjusting work schedules as necessary.
  • Direct workers involved in major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations.
Safety and Quality

Ensure that Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to, maintaining a safe working environment.

Perform tasks in accordance with the Company's Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Systems.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • This position involves OFFSHORE WORK, characterized by working outdoors and indoors, day and night, and near water.
  • Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
  • Frequently exposed to high humidity, intense noise, and glare.
  • Potential exposure to open flames, sparks, and airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Work surface is stable, with elevated height.
Physical Activity/Requirements
  • This position is considered HEAVY work.
  • OCCASIONAL: Lift pounds, work in confined spaces, kneel, jump, run, work while lying on the stomach or back, crawl, and use repetitive arm and hand movements.
  • FREQUENT: Lift 25-50 pounds, wear PPE for head and hands, climb stairs/ladders, stand, balance, stoop, squat, reach, and lift/carry objects.
  • CONSTANT: Lift 10-20 pounds, standing and walking, wear PPE for body, vision, and hearing protection, and steel/safety-toed shoes/boots.
