Position Overview:

This hybrid role requires presence in one of our UK offices 2-3 days per week. The Internal Controls Manager plays a pivotal role, engaging regularly with the Group Executive Committee and board members through the Audit and Risk Committee. This position is centered on the execution and upkeep of essential components of the UK Governance Code, enhancing the internal control framework, developing and enforcing the group standards for controls, and ensuring compliance with the Company's control benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to the business in establishing effective controls, governance, and risk management practices.
  • Collaborate closely with central and regional finance teams, along with other critical stakeholders, to design, implement, and sustain the Company's internal control framework, ensuring the efficient operation of business processes and effective risk management.
  • Lead the validation process for the operational effectiveness of risk management and internal controls, ensuring compliance with the UK Governance Code regarding the Board's statements.
  • Assist the Company's Risk Assurance function in delivering objective assessments to the Audit & Risk Committee regarding the efficacy of risk management and internal control systems. Employ a systematic approach to evaluate and enhance governance processes while providing consulting advice aimed at adding value and improving operations.
  • Establish strong relationships with leadership across the Company to identify issues and offer insights on internal controls.
  • Regularly update and maintain the control framework for respective regions and functions, reflecting any system and process changes.
  • Monitor outstanding management actions and provide monthly reports to senior management and the Board.
  • Prepare documentation for the Board, Audit & Risk Committee, and General Executive Committee as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified accountant or internal controls expert (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA or equivalent).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in reporting.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities to drive project delivery and initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation capabilities.
  • Extensive experience in data analysis and report generation.
  • Demonstrated urgency in project delivery.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing sectors.
  • Adaptable team player with a commitment to efficiency.
  • Experience working with senior management.
  • Prior experience in a publicly listed UK company.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft D365 is desirable.
