Position Overview:

This role operates in a hybrid capacity, requiring presence in one of our UK offices a few days each week.

The Internal Controls Manager plays a pivotal role, engaging regularly with the Group Executive Committee and board members through the Audit and Risk Committee. This position emphasizes the execution and upkeep of critical components of the UK Governance Code, while also enhancing the internal control framework, establishing and enforcing the organizational standards for controls, and overseeing adherence to the Company's control protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and assistance to the organization in instituting suitable controls, governance, and risk management strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with central and regional finance teams, along with other essential stakeholders, to develop, implement, and sustain the Company's internal control framework, ensuring efficient business operations and effective risk management.
  • Lead the initiative to assess the operational effectiveness of risk management and internal controls, including significant controls and the broader control environment, to comply with the UK Governance Code requirements.
  • Assist the Company's Risk Assurance function in delivering objective evaluations to the Audit & Risk Committee regarding the efficacy of risk management and internal control systems. Contribute to achieving the Company's goals by applying a systematic, disciplined approach to enhance risk management, control, and governance processes, alongside providing consulting advice aimed at adding value and improving operations.
  • Foster relationships with leadership across the organization to comprehend challenges and offer insights on internal controls.
  • Maintain and update the control framework for various regions and functions, incorporating any modifications to systems and processes.
  • Monitor outstanding management actions and provide monthly updates for senior management and the Board.
  • Prepare documentation for the Board, Audit & Risk Committee, and General Executive Committee as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Professional accounting qualification or expertise in internal controls (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in reporting.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities to drive project delivery and initiatives.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation capabilities.
  • Extensive experience in data analysis and report generation.
  • Demonstrated urgency in project execution.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing operations.
  • Adaptable team player with a commitment to efficiency and openness to change.
  • Prior experience engaging with senior management.
  • Experience with a publicly listed UK organization.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft D365 is a plus.
