Position Overview

Compass Changing Lives is a leading provider of Early Intervention and Targeted Support Services. We are currently seeking an Educational Support Consultant to become a vital member of our diverse team, dedicated to addressing the unique needs of children and young people (CYP) within educational environments and community settings.

Our mission is to ensure that Children and Young People receive timely and appropriate assistance, thereby streamlining access to essential services and preventing unnecessary transitions between different support systems.

Key Responsibilities

The Educational Support Consultant will play a crucial role in delivering a variety of support services to key partners throughout the region, focusing on improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people.

Specific duties include:

  • Designing and delivering training programs for educational staff to enhance their skills and confidence in addressing low-level mental health concerns among students.
  • Providing expert consultation to school personnel, offering tailored advice, guidance, and coaching regarding individual children and young people facing emotional and mental health challenges.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a relevant qualification in mental health or experience working with children and young people, such as:

  • Diploma in Youth Work
  • Social Work
  • Psychology
  • Accredited Counseling
  • Equivalent NVQ Level 4 in social care or mental health

Experience

Essential experience includes:

  • Training and delivering educational programs
  • Facilitating group and individual sessions with children and young people
  • Collaborating across various agencies and disciplines
  • Addressing mental health and wellbeing needs
  • Understanding safeguarding protocols and legislation

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Capacity to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficiency in IT and data collection
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, young people, and families
