Principal Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Omega Resource Group. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering transmission protection and control systems to our end customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver transmission protection and control systems that meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.
  • Mentor and coach other team members to support their growth and development.
  • Assess and optimize delivery processes to ensure efficient engineering practices and timely project delivery.
  • Provide innovative solutions as technical lead for protection and control on the UK Transmission and Distribution network.
  • Ensure that solutions are compliant with the latest policies and standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain the highest standards of quality.
  • Solve complex problems, find faults, and think analytically.
  • Provide technical input for Sales, Proposals, and Operations departments.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Application of protection systems on National Grid transmission network.
  • Experience of National Grid delivery and specifications/standards are essential.
  • Good understanding of design process covering Detailed design (Circuit diagrams / Interface diagrams / cubicle design / settings / testing FAT).
  • Experience with industry-standard software tools for design, simulation, and test.
  • Experience dealing with NG as direct customer and/or EPC customers providing protection solutions for brown field extensions or green field build.
  • Good communication skills to allow efficient coordination between the team/function groups and the customer.
  • A minimum qualification of HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering plus extensive experience in the Electricity Transmission and Distribution Industry.
