Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive adult urological service, developing a specialist interest to complement the department's existing expertise. This will involve providing elective services, including outpatient clinics and inpatient operations, at Great Western Hospital and peripheral community hospitals.

The postholder will also support the hospital's new care pathways and participate in the Consultant of the Week rota, providing care for all urology inpatients and offering telephone advice to the on-call surgical team out of hours.

The urologist will be expected to contribute to the delivery of safe inpatient care, support teaching and training of undergraduate students and junior medical staff, and participate in clinical audit and continuing medical education.

Key Requirements
  • Fully registered with the GMC
  • CCT (or equivalent) in the specialty of urology
  • Expertise in full range of urological conditions
  • Ability to lead a multi-professional team and take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
