About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Compliance Coordinator to join our dynamic Transport and Logistics team at our Sainsbury's site. This is a fixed-term position until October 2025, reporting directly to the Depot Transport Change & Compliance Lead. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our depot remains legally compliant by handling administrative tasks, compiling data, and collaborating with various stakeholders.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive support to the Depot Transport Team in executing transport change projects.
- Collaborate with the team to identify opportunities for optimizing transport operations, balancing service efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of existing transport and fleet legislation requirements. Review processes to ensure operational adherence to these regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Stay abreast of legislative changes and work closely with the Depot Transport Team to implement necessary compliance adjustments. Gather information from diverse systems to facilitate this process.
- Provide data and insights for compliance across various areas:
- Operational Process Compliance (liaising with Analytics & Compliance team)
- Fleet Compliance – including vehicle downloads, driver hours, fleet servicing, MOTs, LOLER, tachograph, accident management (including trend analysis), and damage reduction plans
- Transport Compliance – including tachograph infringement management and Working Time Directive adherence. Supporting the Operational team with identifying driver non-compliance to log on/log off and break timings. Driver licence checks and digi-card downloads.
- Transport Training and Agency Induction Compliance – support the Transport Change & Compliance Lead to ensure our Transport Trainers are working in line with company expectations and legislation.
- Coordinate Logistics UK audits
- Collaborate with our Health & Safety team on matters where H&S and Transport/Fleet compliance overlap, such as audits and investigations.
- Take ownership of your tasks, consistently striving to improve performance. Demonstrate enthusiasm and initiative for new ideas.
- Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships with various stakeholders, including Union partnerships.
- Operate within legislation, policy, and process in all matters ranging from people management to safety, health, and environment.
- Liaise with vehicle maintenance units (VMUs) at both their base location and across the distribution network. Ensure accurate information transfer regarding fleet movements to maintain legal compliance.
- Contribute to damage reduction plans and accident management processes.

You are a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of transport and logistics regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
