About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Wing Plant Engineering Team, you will be responsible for supporting the Wing Component Delivery Teams and providing engineering support to the Broughton Plant and its Supply Chain.

Your primary function will be to identify improvements, undertake investigations, and provide technical solutions via Structural & Systems modifications for Design for Cost, Rate, and Quality improvements. You will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to meet the needs of our Industrial System and maintain the highest levels of product integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead design investigations and formulate technical solutions for Manufacturing Non-Conformances and Design Investigations.
  2. Ensure that all Design, Airworthiness, and safety requirements are met.
  3. Liaise with other functions to ensure a fully integrated design solution.
  4. Act as a lead design engineer and hold design approval signatory in particular for manufacturing non-conformances.
  5. Provide guidance on technical issues and governance, and support technical mentoring for engineering team members.
  6. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through methods, process, and other improvements.

You will be responsible for reporting on critical technical issues through functional managers where applicable and directly into delivery managers to ensure robust management of issues. Development of stakeholder relationships in the wider network to engineering is also required.

Requirements
  1. Motivated and self-driven with the ability to work autonomously when required, whilst being a strong team player.

  3. Anticipation mindset, able to identify risks/opportunities and manage them appropriately.
  4. Understand and synthesise multiple complex activities, simplify and communicate them clearly, on a timely basis, to all stakeholders as needed.
  5. Work in an open and trusting environment.
  6. Understand, nurture and demonstrate resilience.
  7. Currently holds Concession Design Approval (T200) or held it in the past.
