About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician Trainer to join our team at Babcock International Group. As a Vehicle Technician Trainer, you will play a critical role in delivering technical training to military students of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare relevant training material, collaborating with the Media and Graphics Department as needed, to create high-quality Initial Trade Training material for delivering training.
  • Maintain a Continuous Personal Development (CPD) portfolio, ensuring lesson plans and training sessions are developed in accordance with approved Learner Specifications, Course specifications, and Course Training Plans.
  • Review course material and content to ensure it is current and evolves to support equipment and technology advances, using the most appropriate training aids.
  • Assess trainees, including creation of written examinations and progress test papers, creation of practical assessment/examination scenarios, and continuous assessments. Mark examination papers, set and mark course and homework, and invigilate examinations and assessments.
  • Ensure trainee development through monitoring, feedback, appraisal, discipline, and training interventions, maintaining supporting documentation and flagging special trainee developmental needs or training delays to the Lead Trainer.

Requirements

  • Vehicle Technician background
  • Strong team player – ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Organised, great time management, and proactive manner
  • Clear and effective communication – written and verbal
  • Knowledge of vehicle inspection processes MEI/MOT (desirable)
  • Strong IT literacy skills

Qualifications

  • Minimum City & Guilds Part 3/NVQ L3 or Apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance (Heavy or Light automotive vehicle, plant machinery) or equivalent military qualifications, gained as Class 1 REME Vehicle Mechanic or similar RN/RAF trade
  • No previous training experience required; we will develop you into the role, provided you can show the required level of technical experience and willingness to learn. Full training and funding will be provided to gain a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training during the probation period.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
