About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Gynaecology to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading a tertiary referral Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology (PAG) service, and contributing to the development of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide elective inpatient and outpatient care to patients referred with benign gynaecological conditions, ensuring timely diagnostic pathways for women with suspected cancer in liaison with the cancer diagnosis tracking team.
  • Lead a team of healthcare professionals to deliver a comprehensive PAG service, including clinics, operating, and emergency gynaecology sessions.
  • Develop and deliver a rapid access service for suspected cancer within cancer wait times.
  • Perform general gynaecological surgery independently and take full and independent care of gynaecological problems arising as emergencies.
  • Contribute to the research profile of the PAG department and participate in continuing professional development (CPD) schemes.
Requirements
  • Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligible for specialist registration within 6 months.
  • Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent by date of interview.
  • MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification.
  • RCOG ATSM in Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology.
  • Ability to critically appraise clinical evidence and its application to patient care.
  • Ability to work under pressure and cope with setbacks.
