Position Overview

We are seeking a talented Photonic Device Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of novel photonic devices for our integrated photonics platform. This role focuses on waveguide-integrated superconducting nanowire detectors, pushing the boundaries of quantum computing technology.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will collaborate with experts in photonics, nanofabrication, and engineering. You will have the freedom to explore new approaches and contribute to groundbreaking research.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop waveguide-integrated superconducting nanowire detectors.
  • Collaborate closely with fabrication engineers to ensure practical designs that meet project requirements while considering process limitations.
  • Operate a closed-cycle cryostat, optical and electrical characterization equipment, and explore new capabilities as needed.
  • Design experiments, automate data collection and analysis processes.
Requirements

Your Qualifications and Skills

  • PhD in photonics, quantum optics, superconducting devices, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of single-photon detection, both theoretical and practical.
  • Proficiency in setting up experimental rigs using optical and electronic hardware, cryogenic systems, and automation tools.
  • Experience in developing or characterizing electronic or photonic devices.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proactive individual who takes ownership of challenges and delivers results promptly.

Additional Skills (Preferred)

  • Simulation experience with Lumerical and/or HFSS.
  • Hands-on experience in cleanroom device processing.
  • Scripting skills, particularly in Python, and Git for version control.
  • Experimental background in integrated photonics and/or superconducting materials.
