Position Overview

Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) is excited to present a remarkable opportunity to become a part of our diverse and innovative team of Senior Neurology Consultants within the Regional Neurosciences Centre serving North-East London and Essex.

BHRUT is honored to host the Neuroscience Tertiary Centre, which delivers care to a vast population, including a local community of 750,000. The Centre's Neurology department is actively engaged in providing nearly 900 outpatient consultations each month, along with acute inpatient services and interventional therapies for prevalent neurological disorders.

In response to the increasing demands on our services, the Neurology Department is expanding its team to ensure timely and appropriate patient care. Our vision for service enhancement has evolved in light of recent challenges, and we are committed to implementing innovative practices that align with stakeholder needs.

Key Responsibilities

We invite applications from individuals who are proactive, motivated, and dedicated to continuously improving operational practices amidst evolving demands. The Neurology Department encompasses all major sub-specialty clinical services, supported by a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists and Specialist Registrars, and is actively involved in clinical research for conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Movement Disorders, Epilepsy, and Dementia.

The successful candidate will be expected to cultivate and sustain an interest in research and development, participate in regular clinical governance activities, and engage in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical and nursing education. Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active interest in research and development, engage in regular clinical governance, and contribute to the education of medical and nursing students.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MRCP (UK) or an equivalent qualification
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for inclusion within six months of the interview date

  • Additional relevant medical qualifications
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience presenting at international conferences
