We are currently seeking a Night Shift Engineer to enhance our operations at the Diss facility. This role requires working during night shifts, with occasional weekend and holiday shifts as necessary. Flexibility to cover for colleagues during absences is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a responsive engineering service to the Site Operations Management Team, ensuring optimal machine availability, efficiency, reliability, safety, and quality standards.
- Develop effective and sustainable solutions to enhance machine reliability.
- Identify and resolve faults across all processing equipment and auxiliary devices.
- Monitor and adjust equipment and process parameters to achieve 'right first time' quality.
- Maximize equipment utilization through proactive maintenance, timely calibrations, and routine safety inspections.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and support process enhancement initiatives.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
- Perform any additional tasks as assigned by your Line Manager, following appropriate training.
- Engage with machinery during scheduled factory shutdowns as required.
Qualifications
- Completion of an apprenticeship or HNC qualification in an electrical or mechanical field.
Skills and Experience
Candidates should possess recent experience in a manufacturing setting, with a blend of mechanical and electrical expertise.
Electrical Skills
- Proficient in troubleshooting electrical circuits, with familiarity in AC variable speed drives (e.g., Lenze, Sew, Control Techniques, Siemens) and DC drives (e.g., Siemens, ABB, SSD) being advantageous.
- Knowledge of Siemens S5, S7, and Allen Bradley PLCs.
Mechanical Skills
- Understanding of hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with pneumatic systems.
- Experience with steam systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of mechanical drive systems (power transmission).
- General mechanical repair skills.
