Contract Overview:

This role is a temporary position focused on providing financial guidance within a public sector environment.

Position Summary:

The selected candidate will be instrumental in executing the business partnering function for a designated service area, particularly in the realm of Adult Social Care.

This position is crucial for delivering strategic financial support and advice across various service areas, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

The individual will collaborate closely with service leadership teams to constructively challenge and support service plans and project execution, while also managing and reporting on operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the provision of financial advice and support for the assigned service area, focusing on revenue and capital monitoring.
  2. Ensure financial information is accurate, relevant, and presented to decision-makers at the appropriate levels.
  3. Utilize financial data analytics to enhance budget monitoring and long-term financial planning.
  4. Engage regularly with the designated service to integrate into the management team and gain a comprehensive understanding of the supported area.
  5. Facilitate financial management training for service managers to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  6. Continuously assess and report on financial risks and opportunities, advising on mitigation strategies.
  7. Collaborate with strategic partners to enhance the financial management system and drive improvements.
  8. Provide guidance and support to senior management on a wide range of financial issues.

Essential Experience:

Proven experience in accounting and budget management, with a solid understanding of local government finance principles and statutory requirements.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse audiences.

Experience in financial modeling, business case development, and managing change initiatives.

Qualifications:

Must be a qualified CCAB Accountant or possess an equivalent finance qualification, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities Include:

Managing a small team and providing financial management advice for significant budget responsibilities.

This role is classified as Inside IR35.
