About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at Penderels Trust. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting an individual with Autism and Learning Difficulties to live a fulfilling life.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide personal care and support to the individual, including assistance with daily living tasks, such as toileting, showering, and dressing. You will also be responsible for supporting the individual with cooking, meal preparation, and eating meals/drinks.

In addition to personal care, you will assist the individual with household chores and general homemaking. You will also support the individual to attend appointments, hospital/doctors, and participate in sporting and leisure activities.

As a Support Worker, you will be required to administer medication, which is a critical aspect of this role. You will also be responsible for promoting and encouraging friendships and independence, as well as developing a good and trusting one-to-one working relationship with the individual.

We are looking for someone who is patient, supportive, and caring, with good listening skills and the ability to provide non-judgmental emotional support. Previous caring experience is not essential, but you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.

Requirements
  • Be honest, reliable, trustworthy, and punctual.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy, including the prohibited use of social media in relation to the job role.
  • Be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Have good listening skills and be able to provide non-judgmental emotional support.
  • Be empathetic and have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.
  • Be self-motivated with a willingness to get involved.
Transport Requirements

We require a car driver and car owner who has business insurance.
