Primary ASD Teaching Assistant

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an ASD Teaching Assistant (Primary) at a welcoming school in Ashington.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and positive environment for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). As an ASD Teaching Assistant (Primary), you will provide 1:1 and group support to children with ASD, assist the class teacher with daily lessons and activities, and help to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support to pupils with ASD, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons, adapting materials to meet the needs of pupils with ASD.
- Help to create a safe and inclusive learning environment, ensuring the well-being and safety of all pupils.
- Implement personalized learning plans, tailored to the needs of pupils with ASD.
- Support pupils with their communication and behavior management, encouraging social and emotional development.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children, ideally with ASD or special needs.
- A caring and patient approach, with strong communication skills.
- The ability to work as part of a team, with a willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the children.
- Relevant qualifications or training in special education (desirable but not essential).
- An updated CV (covering the last ten years, with no unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
