Position: Grid Operations Manager
Location: Edinburgh
Compensation: £60,000 – £85,000 based on experience
Work Arrangement: Flexible Hybrid Working
Comanos is collaborating with a client engaged in the development of extensive solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and wind energy facilities throughout the UK. This well-funded organization boasts a robust project pipeline and is in search of a distinguished Grid Operations Manager to oversee and direct their grid intelligence and connection activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the project pipeline by maintaining communication with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and National Grid Electricity System Operator (NGESO) throughout the project lifecycle, while monitoring progress and finalizing all necessary applications.
- Identifying and securing information regarding grid capacity suitable for photovoltaic (PV), wind, and BESS initiatives.
- Engaging with DNOs and NGESO concerning budgets, preliminary application meetings, and forthcoming developments.
- Completing the ENA's G99 and G98 application documentation.
- Evaluating technical schematics related to design, layout, site optimization, and other site-specific considerations.
- Assisting in due diligence for prospective project acquisitions.
- Supporting Independent Connection Provider (ICP) and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) procurement processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (a master's in Power Systems is advantageous).
- Demonstrated experience in a technical grid connection capacity related to electrical projects.
- Experience in renewable energy projects, preferably in solar, wind, and BESS.
- Familiarity with Grid Code/ENA G99 and G98 standards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, network operators, and grid consulting specialists.
