Comanos is collaborating with a prominent client engaged in the development of large-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and wind energy projects throughout the UK. This well-funded organization boasts a robust project pipeline and is in search of a highly skilled Grid Manager to oversee and direct their grid intelligence and connection operations.

The Grid Manager will be responsible for establishing effective communication with management, the land acquisition team, and fostering strong relationships with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), Transmission Operators, and System Operators. This role is critical in addressing intricate engineering challenges and securing grid capacity for extensive solar, wind, and BESS initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the project pipeline by maintaining communication with DNOs and National Grid Electricity System Operator (NGESO) throughout the project lifecycle, tracking developments, and completing all necessary applications.
  • Gather and secure data regarding grid capacity suitable for photovoltaic (PV), wind, and BESS projects.
  • Engage with DNOs and NGESO concerning budgets, pre-application meetings, and forthcoming developments.
  • Complete the Energy Networks Association's G99 and G98 application forms.
  • Analyze technical drawings related to design, layout, site optimization, and other relevant site considerations.
  • Assist in due diligence for potential project acquisitions.
  • Support Independent Connection Provider (ICP) and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) procurement processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (a master's degree in Power Systems is advantageous).
  • Demonstrated experience in a technical grid connection role related to electrical projects.
  • Experience in renewable energy projects, particularly in solar, wind, and BESS.
  • Familiarity with Grid Code and ENA G99 and G98 standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders, network operators, and grid specialist consultants.
