Work Arrangement: Flexible Hybrid Working

Comanos is collaborating with a client engaged in the development of large-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and wind power facilities throughout the UK. This client is well-funded and possesses a robust project pipeline, seeking an outstanding Grid Manager to oversee and direct their grid intelligence and connection initiatives.

The Grid Manager will work closely with management and the land acquisition team, while also establishing strong relationships with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), Transmission Operators, and System Operators to address intricate engineering challenges and secure grid capacity for substantial solar, wind, and BESS projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the project pipeline by maintaining communication with DNOs and NGESO throughout the project lifecycle, tracking progress, and completing all necessary applications.
  • Identifying and securing information regarding grid capacity suitable for photovoltaic (PV), wind, and BESS projects.
  • Engaging with DNOs and NGESO concerning budgets, pre-application meetings, and forthcoming developments.
  • Completing ENA's G99 and G98 application forms.
  • Evaluating technical drawings related to design, layout, site optimization, and other site considerations.
  • Assisting in due diligence for potential project acquisitions.
  • Supporting Independent Connection Provider (ICP) and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) procurement processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (a master's in Power Systems is advantageous).
  • Prior experience in a technical grid connection role associated with electricity projects.
  • Experience in renewable energy projects, particularly in solar, wind, and BESS.
  • Familiarity with Grid Code and ENA G99 and G98.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders, network operators, and grid specialist consultants.
