Job Overview

This position presents a remarkable opportunity for a qualified professional to oversee the Clinical Support Services Team within the Nursing Care Quality division at NHS Blood and Transplant.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, managing, and enhancing the clinical support services and the Senior Nurse Practitioners at the Bristol location.

Collaboration with the organization is essential to fulfill donor needs by ensuring the provision of safe blood products and contributing to the broader development and strategic vision of the Clinical Support team.

The individual in this role will be tasked with managing a team that delivers exceptional post-donation product management and expert guidance to NHS Blood and Transplant departments and external entities.

This role provides the autonomy to spearhead significant projects, engaging with both internal and external stakeholders while utilizing clinical expertise, always prioritizing patient care and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be accountable for leading, managing, and developing the clinical support team service and the Senior Nurse Practitioners for the Bristol site. Your key responsibilities will include:

Serving as a subject matter expert in Blood Supply, providing independent expert advice and support regarding Clinical Support Team processes. Establishing and nurturing professional relationships with other Lead Senior Nurse Practitioners to ensure service consistency and maintain open lines of communication with national Clinical Support Team colleagues. Leading and making critical decisions to ensure that donors and recipients receive safe, high-quality, and effective care. Managing a team that delivers outstanding post-donation product management and expert advice to NHS Blood and Transplant departments and external organizations. Collaborating with the organization to meet donor needs and support the delivery of safe blood products while contributing to the broader development and strategic direction of the Clinical Support team. Demonstrating a high level of autonomy, critical thinking, and advanced clinical decision-making skills.

Candidate Profile

Experience and Expertise

Proven experience in planning and delivering educational programs within a clinical setting. Demonstrated success in enhancing service delivery through the implementation and evaluation of clinical practice changes. Experience in project management or leadership roles. Significant management and leadership experience in a clinical environment. Extensive experience in educating or training others. Familiarity with budget management or experience working with budgets. Proven ability to set, monitor, and evaluate care standards. Experience in initiating and supporting the professional development of others, including mentorship, coaching, and presenting while maintaining personal development. Knowledge of clinical effectiveness principles and best practices. Understanding of donor and patient safety initiatives, strategies, and associated risks. Familiarity with clinical audit principles, research, and current developments within the wider NHS, including benchmarking.

Qualifications and Training

Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration as an Adult Nurse level 1 or 2 or Children's Nurse level 1. Management qualification or equivalent relevant experience. Educated to Master's level, evidenced by academic qualifications or extensive equivalent management and leadership experience at a senior level, with a willingness to pursue formal qualifications.
