Job Overview
This role presents a remarkable opportunity for a qualified professional to spearhead the Clinical Support Services Team within the Nursing Care Quality division at NHS Blood and Transplant.
The position entails accountability for directing, overseeing, and enhancing the clinical support team service along with the Senior Nurse Practitioners at the Bristol facility.
Collaboration with the organization is essential to fulfill donor requirements by ensuring the provision of safe blood products and contributing to the broader strategic development of the Clinical Support team.
The individual in this role will be responsible for managing a team that delivers exceptional post-donation product management and expert guidance to NHS Blood and Transplant departments and external entities.
This position allows for a national perspective, granting the successful candidate the autonomy to lead significant initiatives while engaging with both internal and external stakeholders, utilizing clinical expertise and prioritizing patient care and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
In this capacity, you will be responsible for leading, managing, and enhancing the clinical support team service and the Senior Nurse Practitioners at the Bristol site. Your duties will encompass:
- Serving as a subject matter clinical expert with clear visibility in Blood Supply, providing independent expert advice and support regarding Clinical Support Team processes.
- Establishing and nurturing professional relationships with other Lead Senior Nurse Practitioners to ensure service consistency, offering support, guidance, and maintaining open communication with national Clinical Support Team colleagues.
- Leading and making informed decisions to ensure that donors and recipients receive safe, high-quality, and effective care.
- Managing a team that excels in post-donation product management and offers expert advice to NHS Blood and Transplant departments and external organizations.
- Collaborating with the organization to address donor needs, supporting the delivery of safe blood products, and contributing to the broader strategic direction of the Clinical Support team.
- Exercising a high level of autonomy, demonstrating critical thinking and advanced clinical decision-making skills.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience and Knowledge
- Proven experience in planning and delivering educational programs within a clinical setting.
- Demonstrated success in enhancing service delivery through the implementation and evaluation of clinical practice changes.
- Experience in project management or leadership roles.
- Extensive management and leadership experience in a clinical environment.
- Significant experience in educating or training others.
- Experience in budget management or collaboration with budgetary processes.
- Experience in setting, monitoring, and evaluating care standards.
- Experience in initiating and supporting the professional development of others, including mentorship and coaching.
- Knowledge of clinical effectiveness principles and best practices.
- Understanding of donor and patient safety initiatives, strategies, and associated risks.
- Familiarity with clinical audit principles, research, and current developments within the NHS, including benchmarking.
Qualifications and Training
- Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration as an Adult Nurse level 1 or 2 or Children's Nurse level 1.
- Management qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
- Educated to Master's level, demonstrated by academic qualifications or extensive equivalent management and leadership experience at a senior level, with a willingness to pursue formal qualifications.
