Position Overview:

The Mines Advisory Group (MAG) is seeking a proactive and skilled governance expert to enhance our organizational development as the Head of Governance. In this pivotal role, you will deliver strategic corporate governance counsel and operational support to MAG's Board of Trustees and Leadership Team, ensuring our governance frameworks are both effective and compliant with regulatory standards and best practices within the sector.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead a dedicated team providing essential Management Support services, including administrative functions and travel coordination for staff.
  • Offer high-level governance advice to the Board and Executive, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including regulators and advisors, to uphold governance excellence.

Candidate Profile:

We are in search of a seasoned governance professional with a proven track record in supporting and advising Boards of Trustees and Executives. Experience with regulatory bodies and as a Data Protection Officer is highly desirable. Your ability to dissect and convey complex information clearly, both in writing and verbally, is crucial for success in this role.

Building and nurturing effective relationships across all organizational levels and with key external partners is essential. Leadership experience in managing and motivating a team is required, while prior experience in an international NGO or similar organization is advantageous but not mandatory.
