About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to join our team at FPCR Environment and Design Ltd. As a leading integrated design practice, we work extensively throughout the UK, delivering award-winning schemes in environmentally sensitive locations.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and talented professional to take on a pivotal role in leading and delivering high-quality ecological assessments, surveys, and mitigation strategies. You will collaborate with our talented team of ecologists, landscape architects, and environmental planners to achieve our clients' goals.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and deliver ecological projects, including assessments, surveys, and mitigation strategies.
  2. Collaborate with the team to achieve project goals and deadlines.
  3. Develop and implement ecological plans and reports.
  4. Provide technical advice to clients on biodiversity net gain, DEFRA statutory biodiversity metric, and associated reports and plans.
  5. Conduct site visits and surveys to gather data and information.
  6. Prepare and present reports and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  7. Stay up-to-date with UK ecology legislation, guidelines, and best practice.
Requirements
  • At least a degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • For the Senior Ecologist role, a proven track record in managing and delivering ecological projects and meeting deadlines.
  • For the Ecologist role, at least 3 years of experience in ecological consultancy with a strong focus on conducting surveys, assessments, and preparing ecological reports.
  • Sound knowledge of UK ecology legislation, guidelines, and best practice.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIEEM).
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
