Job Title: SEN Teacher - English Specialist

At Phoenix Learning & Care Group, we believe that every young person deserves access to meaningful education. Our SEN Teacher - English Specialist role is designed to support neurodiverse children and young people with additional needs related to communication and interaction, cognition and learning, sensory and/or physical needs.

Our curriculum is tailored to each individual child, taking an individual approach to learning based on their needs, goals, strengths, and aspirations. We measure success in various ways, including social and emotional challenges, and working with pupils to develop transferable life skills essential for their transition into adulthood.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading classroom activities, including planning, teaching, and assessing learning, particularly with 'your' class.
  • Monitoring and recording progress, both academically and against EHCP outcomes.
  • Working closely with pupils to keep them engaged, motivated, and inspired to reach their full potential.
  • Working either 1:1 with pupils or in small group settings to help them achieve their learning goals.
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants to direct them to effectively support the pupils.
Requirements:
  • Patience, compassion, and resilience - The pupils you teach will be neurodiverse, which can impact their learning behavior and communication needs.
  • A driving license - Our pupils love to learn in a wide range of settings.
  • A genuine interest in a career focused on the education of people with a wide range of needs.
