Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Surgical Practitioner to oversee the theatre department, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and operational efficiency.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Delivering exceptional quality care to patients throughout their surgical journey.
  • Leading and managing a dedicated team, addressing training needs and resource allocation.
  • Assisting in the provision of patient care, ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Enhancing the skills and knowledge of both self and team members.
  • Implementing evidence-based practices within the scope of the role.
  • Upholding relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintaining awareness of health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe environment for all.
  • Meeting performance objectives while embodying the core values of the organization.
  • Preparing and verifying surgical instruments and equipment for a variety of procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

Applicants should possess:
  • Current registration with NMC or HCPC.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role, including leadership and mentorship.
  • Certification as a first surgical assistant.
  • Additional expertise in recovery and anaesthetics.
  • Basic life support certification.
  • A mentorship qualification.
  • Proficiency in mathematics and English, evidenced by GCSEs or equivalent.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with relevant software.
  • Experience in customer service, particularly in challenging situations.
  • A background in scrub nursing, preferably in ENT, Orthopaedic, General Surgery, and Neuro.
