Position Overview

The role of Lead Theatre Practitioner - Scrub is essential in ensuring the delivery of high-quality surgical care. This position is integral to the operational efficiency of the Theatre department, requiring a dedicated professional to lead and mentor a team of skilled practitioners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe and effective care for patients throughout their perioperative journey.
  • Oversee and manage a team, ensuring that training needs and resource allocation are met within the surgical specialty.
  • Assist in the provision of patient care, contributing to the overall quality improvement initiatives.
  • Enhance the skills and knowledge of team members while promoting best practices within the scope of practice.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, maintaining a strong focus on Health and Safety standards.
  • Prepare and check surgical equipment, instruments, and consumables for various operative procedures.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered Practitioner with NMC or HCPC registration.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in surgical coordination and mentorship.
  • Certification as a First Surgical Assistant.
  • Additional competencies in recovery and anaesthetics.
  • Mentorship qualification and ILS certification.
  • Proficient in computer use, including relevant software and systems.
  • Experience in customer care, particularly in challenging situations.
  • Expertise in Scrub Nursing, particularly in ENT, Orthopaedic, General Surgery, and Neuro.
