Immigration Department Overview:

As one of the foremost legal aid immigration practices in the UK, our immigration department is recognized for its comprehensive services, including business immigration, human rights, appeals, and overstay matters. The Legal 500 directory highlights our team's breadth and depth, noting our innovative approach and effectiveness in handling immigration cases. Key Responsibilities:
  • Report directly to the Department Director.
  • Oversee all facets of immigration work, providing technical guidance to team members.
  • Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers, ensuring appropriate caseload management.
  • Facilitate training and development initiatives within the department.
  • Handle a diverse range of immigration cases, including detained clients, asylum applications, and judicial reviews.
  • Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency.
  • Draft essential documents, including witness statements and evidence processing.
  • Ensure compliance with Home Office requirements in application submissions.
  • Attend conferences and court proceedings as necessary.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to client care and business development.
Essential Skills:
  • Registered with the Law Society Immigration & Asylum Law Accreditation (desirable).
  • Highly motivated and committed to excellence.
  • Possess a valid Practising Certificate at the time of application.
  • Strong leadership and management capabilities.
  • Collaborative team player with a focus on fostering positive change.
  • Proven supervisory experience with a track record of meeting performance indicators.
  • Excellent client care skills, particularly in sensitive immigration matters.
  • Strong networking and communication skills to enhance business development.
  • Familiarity with publicly funded immigration work and ability to manage privately funded cases.
  • Extensive experience in immigration law, with some knowledge of adoption matters.
  • Advocacy experience is advantageous.
  • Proficient in IT, particularly Microsoft Office and document management systems.
