We are seeking a Duty Manager to become a vital part of our team at Thurlestone Hotel & Spa.

Live-in accommodation is provided in our newly renovated staff quarters, conveniently located within a short walking distance from the hotel.

Thurlestone Hotel & Spa is a prestigious, family-run, 4-star establishment featuring 65 luxurious rooms along the breathtaking South Devon coastline. Our amenities include the acclaimed 2 AA Rosette Trevilder Restaurant, Voyage Spa, a 9-hole golf course, The Village Inn Pub, and a variety of recreational facilities such as tennis, squash, and a seasonal children's club.

Role Overview

As a Duty Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hotel, ensuring an exceptional guest experience, the smooth operation of all departments, and the effective management of the hotel's resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and assist Heads of Departments to guarantee the seamless operation of their areas and address any issues to ensure a flawless guest experience.
  • Uphold the highest standards within the hotel, taking personal accountability for ensuring every guest experience is impeccable, and warmly welcoming guests.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of guests and staff during your shift, with a particular focus on minimizing risks related to fire safety.
  • Dedicate time to engage with guests to confirm their satisfaction with the food, service, and any other concerns.
  • Address all guest complaints and be knowledgeable about the guest feedback procedures as outlined by the General Manager.
  • Perform duties as per the early/late duty checklist, including overnight responsibilities when necessary.
  • Assist with minor maintenance issues and notify the Maintenance team as needed.
  • Be proactive in other departments when required and be available to cover staff shortages as necessary.
  • Carry out any other reasonable requests or tasks as directed by the General Manager or Directors.
  • Act as a substitute for Heads of Departments when necessary.
  • Manage beverage deliveries and oversee stock issuance from the cellar.
