StokeonTrent, Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust Full time

Position Overview

Important Note:

Please be aware that the University Hospitals of North Midlands (NHS) Trust does not reimburse travel expenses for candidates attending interviews.

Our Major Trauma Centre is recognized for its exceptional survival rates, and we invite you to be part of our leading team. We currently have an opening for Registered Nurses or Operating Department Practitioners (ODP) at Band 5 within our advanced Theatre Suite, specializing in cardiothoracic surgery at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

We are eager to recruit Scrub and Anaesthetic Practitioners with relevant experience; however, all Nurses and ODPs are encouraged to submit their applications.

While we prefer candidates with prior theatre experience, we also welcome applications from newly qualified professionals or those new to theatre who demonstrate a strong interest in joining our team. Students who are set to qualify in the next 3 to 6 months are also encouraged to apply.

In this role, you will gain extensive experience and have the opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge in a challenging yet rewarding environment.

Main Responsibilities

We seek dynamic and enthusiastic individuals who can thrive in a demanding environment and provide high-quality patient care utilizing their Scrub skill set. Our theatre department promotes a dual-role workforce.

In return, we offer a structured preceptorship and induction program for all new staff members, along with access to ongoing professional education and development, regular appraisals, and clinical support. We have full-time positions available with a variety of shifts, covering both elective and emergency sessions 24/7 at Royal Stoke. Currently, we are managing emergencies with on-call support, transitioning to a 24-hour operational model that includes night and weekend shifts.

About Our Organization

The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is among the largest and most modern healthcare providers in the country. Operating across two sites, we are proud to serve approximately three million people and are highly regarded for our facilities, teaching, and research capabilities. We serve as the specialist center for major trauma in the North Midlands and North Wales.

Every employee contributes significantly to our mission, regardless of their role at UHNM. We take pride in our extensive development programs designed to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

At UHNM, we foster a culture of inclusion, providing equal opportunities for career advancement that are fair and transparent. We are committed to being a diverse and inclusive employer, cultivating an environment where all staff feel valued and respected. In return, we expect all employees to uphold the values co-created by our staff, patients, and caregivers, which unite us as a Trust.

We recognize that investing in, supporting, and developing our staff directly impacts the quality of care we provide. Our employees are as vital as our patients and the communities we serve.
