Rehabilitation Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Rehabilitation Engineer to join our Kent Wheelchair Service team at Rosscare.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess the mobility needs of adults and children with complex needs, and prescribe manual and powered wheelchairs with associated posture management and pressure management accessories.
  • Work with high performance, highly adjustable self-propelling manual wheelchairs and make minor modifications to wheelchairs, seating, and accessories.
  • Produce engineering drawings for adaptations and instructions for their use, as well as assemble and program complex powered wheelchair controls.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable medical devices regulations and supervise junior staff, providing clinical and technical guidance to other clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
  • Work with clinical and operational colleagues to deliver contractual service performance of a high quality, demonstrating a personalized approach with measured outcomes.
  • Liaise with service user groups and other stakeholders to facilitate joint working and identify opportunities for improving service user outcomes.
  • Provide support for internal and external training programs, including apprenticeships, student placements, and contribute to the development of internal training resources.
  • Undertake and document necessary risk assessments and corresponding risk management, relating to equipment provision, safeguarding, moving and handling, infection control, etc.
Requirements:
  • A full current UK driving licence for a manual transmission vehicle and willingness to drive Rosscare vehicles (vans) as necessary.
  • Confidence in the use of digital systems and software for record-keeping and analysis of service performance.
  • A track record of using analytical, engineering, and practical skills to solve problems for service users in relation to their mobility equipment.
  • Experience of working with patients with long-term or deteriorating medical conditions would be advantageous.

As a Rehabilitation Engineer at Rosscare, you will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
